We get lots of projects emailed to us for mixing and editing.
If your recording your own stuff there are some very important things to keep in mind to avoid spending extra time, money and possibly even re recording your project!!!
1. When recording digital please leave some headroom and never go into the red!!! Clipped converters DO NOT sound good. How much headroom depends on what your converters are calibrated for. Usually between -16 and -18 db.
2. Use gain staging when recording. What is this? To simplify it on vocals for example do not crank your pre to the point of distortion and turn your converters down to compensate or vice versa. You want a clean gain stage so set all of your volumes moderately.
3. If you have a band and you're doubling guitars please keep your timing and turn the distortion down. Too much distortion, especially when doubling will muddy up your sound so please take it easy on the gain. You'll thank me for it!
4. If you have any questions about any of this please contact us and we'll be happy to go over it in more detail.
